This book is about two twins called Alanna and Thom. They both know how to use magic. Their father wants Thom to be a knight and Alanna a lady. None of the twins wants to be what their father says. They decide Alanna will be the knight and Thom a sorcer. Alanna cuts her hair and changes cloths so she looks like Thom. Alanna has to learn how to be knight and discovers how hard it is.
